'Zombieland Saga: Revenge' Sequel TV Anime Airs in April 2021



Avex Pictures posted a promotional video for the Zombieland Saga sequel television anime, Zombieland Saga: Revenge, revealing the staff, cast, and a key visual (pictured) on Friday. The anime series will premiere on Tokyo MX and AT-X in April 2021, among other stations. Amazon's Prime Video service and AbemaTV will exclusively stream the anime in Japan ahead of the television broadcast.

Main staff returning for the sequel at MAPPA include director Munehisa Sakai (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal), scriptwriter Shigeru Murakoshi (Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e), character designer Kasumi Fukagawa (Taisou Zamurai), and music composers Yasuharu Takanashi (Caligula) and Funta 7 (Show by Rock!!). The voice cast are reprising their roles.

Tatsurou Oonishi (Rifle Is Beautiful) and Momoko Mifune (Uchi Tama?! Uchi no Tama Shirimasen ka?) are replacing Kazuo Ogura and Takashi Yanagida as the art director and director of photography, respectively. Ai Kuroiwa (Dorohedoro 3DCG) is the new CG director.

The original television anime, jointly produced by animation studio MAPPA, production company Avex Pictures, and mobile game developer Cygames, aired in 12 episodes in Fall 2018. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with subtitles, while Funimation streamed an English dub.

Megumu Soramichi (Rakudai Kishi no Cavalrybegan drawing a manga adaptation on Cygames' Cycomi website in October 2018. Kodansha published the first volume last February.

Zombieland Saga won Animation of the Year in the Television division at the 2019 Tokyo Anime Awards Festival.
